Free Day of Yoga!!!!

It's that time of year again, when the yoga is free and many students I see! Austin will celebrate a city-wide Free Day of Yoga on Monday September 5th. This is a great opportunity to check out a new studio, teacher, or class and bring a friend, because it's free! I will be teaching a Hatha class at Yoga Yoga 360 at 1pm. The Yoga Yoga 360 studio has a beautiful, big room where the class will be held, so it will not be as crowded as some FDOY classes tend to be. I expect to see lots of you there!

Here are is a link to the offical Austin FDOY Website where you will find schedules for local studios and other events to celebrate the practice of yoga! Also, in the right margin of my blog, you will find links to studios all over the city.

I know I have been absent lately in the blog world:( However, I seem to have finally found a good balance of school and work and commit to blogging once a month. So, you will be hearing more from me soon about free yoga in Austin. I am currently forming a list of weekly free yoga classes in Austin for the financially frugile...so, stay tuned! And let me know if you know of a free class in town so I can share it with others.

Thanks and love!

New Year, New Horizons

Hi there Yogis and Yoginis, Happy New Year! I hope that the holiday season was a joy and that you enjoyed time with your loved ones. It is a bit shocking, to me at least, that we have crossed into another year seamlessly and as I try to adjust to writing 11 instead of 10, I cannot help but reflect on the year that passed. Perhaps it is a strong presence of the moon or just my own nostalgia, but I have found myself very reflective lately. This past year was a sort of "soul searching" year for me. I have been exploring for years the idea of returning to school for a graduate degree but never ventured further than the thought until last summer when I took a psychology course. Once I was back in the classroom, a path began to form towards Physical Therapy School. Very honestly, I hardly had to make a choice, the choice made me. This is one benefit of knowing how to surrender, it can make decisions effortless. However, to begin anew something must end, and in order to return to school I had to stop teaching many of my yoga classes. This was a heartbreaking realization. I love teaching yoga and I think you all know that! Currently, I am completing pre-requisite course work and will officially start the DPT program in 2012. Until then I plan on continuing to teach on Sundays at 12:00 at Yoga Yoga Westgate. This is the only public class I am teaching but it is a beginner friendly class, so every one is welcome to attend! I hope to see you all soon and please drop me an email and let me know how you are settling into the new year. Love and thanks always!

Upcoming Detox and Cleanse Workshop

Mark your calenders for my Detox Workshop at Yoga Yoga South on October 24th! The workshops runs from 2-4:30pm, but do not worry, we will not spend the entire two and half hours sweating and working. The workshop begins with a breif explanantion of why cleansing and detoxing are important practices during this time of year. Following this introduction, we will have a vinyasa practice to build heat and sweat out toxins for about an hour and then cool down for pranayama and meditation. If you have any questions, please let me know. Otherwise, I plan to see you there!

You can sign up for the workshop online http://www.yogayoga.com/workshops/Oct10 or call 512-326-3900.
